St. Petersburg [Russia], Feb 17 (ANI): A prominent university building partially collapsed here on Saturday (local time), authorities said adding there were no casualties reported so far.
About 86 people had been evacuated safely and there were 24 rescue unit teams present in the area, a spokesperson for the Russian Emergency Ministry told CNN.
Three floors of the St. Petersburg Research University of Information Technologies, Mechanics and Optics partially collapsed. It is yet to be ascertained what caused the collapse.
Later, the ministry informed that rescue operations were complete. No casualties or injuries have been reported so far.
"Nobody was found under the rubble and we don't have any reports of missing relatives," said a spokesperson.
According to state-run RIA Novosti, the Russian Emergency Ministry said that a criminal inquiry has been initiated to examine violations in safety norms during the building's construction. (ANI)
