Dallas Stars forwards Tyler Seguin and Roope Hintz will sit out the final two games of the season, coach Rick Bowness announced Sunday.
The moves are precautionary after the Stars were eliminated from playoff contention following the Nashville Predators' 3-1 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday. Dallas visits the Chicago Blackhawks on Sunday and Monday to conclude its season.
Seguin, 29, scored two goals in three games this season before aggravating a hip injury. He last played in the Stars' 5-4 overtime loss to the Florida Panthers on Monday.
Seguin has spent eight of his 11 NHL seasons with Dallas after beginning his career with the Boston Bruins. He has recorded 637 points (281 goals, 356 assists) in 744 career games.
Hintz, 24, collected career-high totals in assists (28) and points (43) in 41 games this season. He reportedly has played through a lower-body injury during the campaign.
Hintz has 98 points (43 goals, 55 assists) in 159 career games with the Stars.
